Nowadays, there is no report showing if pregnant women are more prone to COVID-19 infection than others or more severe symptoms. According to the COVID-19 outbreak, however, it is pretty clear that they are at the same risk as others.

How do pregnant women protect themselves from COVID-19?-19 อย่างไร

  • Avoid crowded places to reduce the risk of contact with the infection and the sick
  • Always wash hands with soap and water or rubbing alcohol
  • Clean and sanitise the items regularly touched every day

Can COVID-19 be transmitted from mothers to babies?

  • During pregnancy, the transmission of the coronavirus from mothers to babies is unlikely given the virus cannot be detected in amniotic fluid (including breast milk) or others
  • There were detections of the coronavirus in some babies shortly after their birth, but the amount of the virus was very little, and it was not clear if they had contracted the virus before or after their birth.

When breastfeeding mothers are infected with COVID-19-19

  • For direct breastfeeding
    • Always wear face masks and wash hands before breastfeeding
